The Cenotaph was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott R.A. and erected by Mr. Edward Owen Griffith, Sculptor and Architectural Carver of Liverpool. It stands forty four feet tall and cost 4,400 raised by public subscription 1800 names are commemorated on forty tablets on the lower level of the memorial, the second level was added after the second world war and also includes names from other wars. It has recently been restored. |
